    Aeris Communications is in search of a Mid-Level L2.5 Software Engineer with a strong understanding of software product development, telecom domain knowledge and a passion for quality.  In this role, you'll be working in a small, fast-paced development team.  You will be collaborating with other developers, Product Management and Customer Support. You must have a solid understanding of the support ecosystem (Customers to Tier 1 Support to Tier 2 Support and Engineering resources, be they database, Java, JavaScript domain experts) as you work the complete lifecycle: feature definition, functional specification, development, validation, deployment and support.

    What you will be doing:

    • You will support software solutions by studying customer needs; conferring with users; studying data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle
    • You will be triaging incoming customer-reported support requests and bugs, determining the fix approach, crafting workarounds and / or advising Tier 1 Support on methods for resolution
    • Make operational improvements by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in processes and procedures
    • Provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues
    • You will take ownership of technical issues and collaborate with onshore and offshore development groups to resolve more advanced issues when necessary
    • You will participate in providing training to our Customer Support team as needed

    What we look for in you:

    • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or an equivalent degree and you bring 2-7 years of software industry development experience in Client Server application architecture
    • Solid understanding of software architecture, components, databases, core Java, web development, server configuration, and related tools
    • Strong experience with Linux, especially command line
    • Understand the concepts and fundamentals of Java and computer science including multi-threading and memory management and web services.
    • Working knowledge and experience with front end development including JavaScript, CSS and HTML.
    • Working knowledge and experience with SQL.
    • A "hacker-like" mentality and love to challenge software programs and applications to ensure it is unbreakable
    • Enjoy working within an agile environment and learning new technical skills
    • An effective and collaborative team member with excellent verbal and written communication skills


    Things that will set you apart:

    • You understand distributed systems and related concepts
    • You have some relational and non-relational database experience
    • You have some experience with Angular
    • You have direct customer support experience
