    Position Overview


    We are looking for a Senior Accountant in our growing Accounting and Finance department in Chicago. The senior accountant will report directly to the Accounting Manager and will have responsibility for critical areas across Accounting and Finance.  Candidates must have a positive attitude, ability to work in a fast paced environment while managing and developing a staff, and be able to cultivate cross-functional relationships effectively. 

    • Conduct certain procedures for the monthly close process and coordinate across the organization to make sure individual contributor responsible for processing, recording and analyzing all transactions are accounted for and all journal entries are complete.
    • Prepare various journal entries related to the monthly closing (e.g. Payroll journal entries, prepaid, fixed assets and deferred revenue runout entries).
    • Perform certain balance sheet account reconciliations at the Corporate (e.g. prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accruals, deferred rent and other complex accounts) and ability to review other account reconciliations performed by staff.
    • Support the accounting manager in the monthly consolidation and monthly financial reports. Consolidation of entities owned by the US includes subsidiaries in India, United Kingdom and a joint venture in Japan, with functional currencies other than the US dollar.
    • Ensure all intercompany transactions are properly recorded and reconciled (e.g. transfer pricing charges/documentation/invoicing, funding and cross charges).
    • Direct involvement in the development of accounting systems, policies and processes to improve internal controls and management information. 
    • Participate in supporting the external financial audits, including preparation of schedules and other data requested by auditors. 
    • Key contributor in the implementation and improvement of financial system software program. Ensure that appropriate testing is performed during all financial software implementations and upgrades. (e.g. perform as user project leader in the implementation and testing of any process enhancement in NetSuite)
    • Assist the Accounting Manager and VP-Controller in establishing financial controls and accounting procedures necessary to ensure the protection of the Company’s assets. 
    • Adhere to and enforce company policies and procedures.

    • Degree in accounting and/or finance.
    • Must have 4-6 years of general accounting experience (e.g. monthly close process, payroll, AR/AP, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, bank reconciliations) and strong understanding of US GAAP.
    • High proficiency in MS Excel (PIVOT, Sumif(s), Vlookup, Macro (a plus) and other MS Office Applications.
    • Must have experience in preparation of financial statements including disclosure requirements.
    • Must be a self-starter, strong communication and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong mathematical, analysis, reconciliation skills.
    • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks.
    • Ability to cross train.
    • Ability to work accurately/independently in fast paced/growing environment.
    • Ability to interact with different levels within the organization and customers.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Knowledge in NetSuite/One World is a plus but not required.
    • Experience in consolidation of various entities with different functional currencies is a plus.
    • Experience in processing payroll in ADP on other third party payroll support provider is a plus but no required.
