    As we continue to expand and explore different IoT solutions offerings, we are looking for a Telematics Solutions Engineer – IoT Automotive Platform Solutions. This is where you come in! In this impactful role, you will lead our efforts to refine our offerings for our global customers. You will make a direct impact on the direction of our company when it comes to this exciting connected vehicle space. Ideally the right candidate will be based in the Detroit area, Chicago, IL, or San Jose. CA. Are you ready for the challenge?

    The right candidate must have a “go for it” attitude, excellent communication skills, strong collaboration skills, be a natural learner, and flexible thinker. You will be interacting and building consensus across multiple teams at Aeris including engineering, business development, sales and operations.  This role requires maturity, polish, having a light touch, being an exceptional team player with a successful track record of working directly with automotive customers and partners. 


    You will be responsible for customizing requirements for near and mid-term mobility and telematics products.  You will drive innovation along with consensus across engineering and operations. 



    • Work closely with automotive OEM customers to understand their technical telematics environment, including
      • In-vehicle device functionality and capabilities
      • Telematics or connected vehicle services
      • Surrounding environments and platforms
      • Related business systems
      • Integration requirements and methods
    • Develop and document high-level system architecture, including systems, scope, and interfaces
    • Work with the OEM, product management, and technical account management teams to develop and document functional requirements for systems, processes and services
    • Work with the OEM and Aeris operations teams to develop and document operational requirements for Aeris’s operations and support resources facing the OEM
    • Be the voice of the automaker – understand and communicate OEM requirements to internal Aeris organizations, including product management, technical account management, engineering, and operations
    • Drive consensus on timelines as well as roles and responsibilities between Aeris and automakers with respect to operations, reporting, and consideration with engineering
    • Drive consensus between Aeris engineering and Aeris product management, understanding on product vision and product roadmap
    • Working hand-in-hand with program management, project managers, and account management, maintain adherence to timelines and ‘drop-dead’ dates
    • Ability to travel to work on-site in both domestic and international locations

    What we look for in you:

    • BS or MS in a technical area such as Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, etc.
    • 7+ years’ experience, at least 3 years of automotive product development experience with OEM or Tier 1 supplier
    • Able to work independently, gain the trust of your team, and navigate sensitive OEM relationships
    • Strong understanding of the complexities of automotive telematics
    • Ability to learn and understand Aeris’ role in the automotive ecosystem
    • Ideally, an engineer with experience representing the consumer and business side
    • Combine technical fluency with customer-facing communications skills
    • Intellectually curious, continuous learner, creative thinker, yet pragmatic
    • Attention to detail for product requirements and documentation
    • Self-starter, self-motivated, and a “roll up the sleeves” attitude with a startup spirit
