This is where you come in. Aeris Communications is seeking a Senior Core Network Engineer with deep expertise in a broad array of telecom networking technologies..

 

The Senior Core Network Engineer is the technical hands on leader for all Core Mobile (GSM/GPRS/UMTS/LTE) network design, solution deployment and integration. This position is at the heart of Aeris’s IoT-optimized network and is a critical role for our cutting-edge technology platform. Operating at a Tier-3/4 level and supporting Tier-2 customer operations, the Senior Core Network Engineer designs and operates circuit and packet core network environments and integration with roaming partners.


  • Perform complex design, engineering, configuration, implementation, maintenance, and hardware/software upgrade of routing, switching and security infrastructure.
  • Resolve highly complex technical design or service issues that cannot be resolved through normal operations and maintenance procedures and provide leadership for root cause analysis to drive issue resolution and limit impact to the customer.
  • Required to engage in vendor management issues, provide expert consultative support during major  upgrades as well as recommend network parameter settings
  • Provide input to ensure operational needs are taken into account and assist to define monitoring, troubleshooting, and procedural requirements. Lead efforts to respond to performance related issues and trends prior to impact on services
  • Devise and deliver training programs and support documentation to other team members and departments on new operation, maintenance and troubleshooting procedures
  • Perform complex design, engineering, implementation, maintenance, and hardware/software upgrade of routing, switching and security infrastructure
  • Perform network architecture reviews and develop detailed engineering design and deployment plans


Key Skills & Competencies:

 

  • Deep understanding of 3GPP GSM, GPRS/UMTS/HSPA and LTE core network circuit and packet architecture and call flows
  • Expert in Packet Core network, GGSN/PGW services, protocols and operations
  • Experience with HLR/HSS and SMS service, protocols and operations
  • Experience with networking protocols (IPv4, IPv6, TCP, SCTP, LAN, VLAN, MPLS, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with system and network configuration is a must
  • Experience with detailed call flow analysis at message and parameter level
  • Proficiency with network diagnostic tools, including but not limited to ping, traceroute and wireshark
  • Experience in system performance analysis and optimization
  • Experience with system planning, engineering and design in a highly-available & complex environment
  • Experience with performance measurement and capacity planning
  • Experience supporting commercial, 24x7, customer-facing and revenue generating systems
  • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills

Skills that will set you apart:

  • Knowledge of AAA/Radius is a plus
  • Knowledge of SS7/SIGTRAN is a plus
